Crowds continue to gather outside the Vatican, and a couple of reporters have commented that the crowd's mood, while somber, also has a trace of joy to it. This mirrors the serene mood that we've been told the Pope has had.
I couldn't help but think that the crowd had turned out to wish the Pope well, a safe trip, as if they were saying "Bon Voyage! Remember us when you get there!" When he does, I'm sure he'll continue to pray for us, as he has here on earth. It will be his way of sending us a postcard - "Wish you were here!"
