Here's our latest historical tidbit from the archives of TV Guide. This one is from the Christmas 1958 issue - Sunday, December 21 to be precise. At 5:00 p.m. CBS featured a news program called "Small World" (probably the precursor to "Face the Nation"), hosted by Edward R. Murrow. Ed's guests were Sen. James Eastland (D - MI), political cartoonist Herblock, and political scientist Prof. Denis W. Brogan.
"One of the topics discussed is the controversial proposal to change the senate rules governing fillibusters."
Hmm. To paraphrase Our Lord, "the poor (politicians) you will always have with you". . .
