On this Thanksgiving Eve, let's take a look at the great Swedish tenor Jussi Björling (1911-1960), who was such a towering figure at the Metropolitan Opera in the 40s and 50s. Known as the "Swedish Caruso," with an absolutely effortless style, he was one of opera's more accessible stars, a popular guest on television as well as in the concert hall, what we might think of today as a "crossover" star. Here we have a clip of him singing "Prayer of Thanksgiving" on a television show from the 50s. No embedding, but you can see the clip here. Enjoy, and a Happy Thansgiving to all!
