From AP earlier today. You remember how yesterday I mentioned that I didn't think it was a coincidence that the Pope and Terri Schiavo were both undergoing their ordeals at the same time? Neither do I think it a coincidence that this is all happening during Lent. Both of them are speaking, in different yet complimentary ways, to the sanctity of life; Terri representing the right to life, the Holy Father through his suffering and its merits. Remember that the Church underwent its sex-abuse scourging during Lent as well - it is good to remind ourselves that Lent is a penitential season, a time of sacrifice and suffering, with the hope of cleansing and redemption around the corner.
Let us pray that it will be so during this Lent as well.
